MAMP should refresh after you click OK and both Apache and MySQL should start. And of course, MySQL was not set to use port 3306, as the start page led me to believe. Note: if MySQL starts fine but Apache doesnt, go back to Preferences and set Apache Port back to what it was before. It turns out that MAMP has a preferences panel wherein you can configure the ports for your Apache and MySQL servers. If the bin folder is not in the Windows path environment, you can navigate to the bin folder e.g. When testing the connection, however, I got the dreaded “Failed to Connect to MySQL at localhost”: On Windows, you can start the MySQL Server using the mysqld program as follows: First, open the Run dialog by pressing Windows+R keyboards: Second, type cmd and press Enter: Third, type mysqld and press Enter: mysqld. The start page instructs you to use port 3306. The information presented there is misleading. Theres a dropdown menu in the PHP section to change the version. When you click it youll find the options to change ports, php, web server etc. Try it out In the MAMP menu theres a link to preferences. Once MAMP is installed and the MySQL server has started, you’ll be taken to a start screen that looks something like this: The only thing that is currently solving the issue for me is changing the php version in MAMP preferences. Hopefully this signpost will help others having connection issues with MySQL Workbench to MAMP MySQL servers as well.
#MAMP SQL SERVER NOT STARTING FOR MAC#
One of these common headaches is the MySQL server not starting on MAMP for Mac inexplicably stopping and whatever you try, it won’t start again. The solution was simple, but getting there led me around the Internet and back with little help. So if you’re like me, you do a lot of WordPress development locally and experience annoying issues.I use MAMP, personally, as do many others. I did, however, spend at least 45 minutes trying to get MySQL Workbench to connect to my local MySQL database server. with the same results.Installing MAMP was easy. I also attempted hard coding the credentials in the update.php script. I am using PHP5.3 when running the update.php script in the maintenance folder. The instructions note I must use update.php to ensure the data carries over, but the script doesn't work and prompts me with more permission errors stating that it could not connect to the database (although everything seems correct and I can connect the the database using the same credentials being used in the update.php file via the terminal). Or I get to the index.php but the information doesn't load.
#MAMP SQL SERVER NOT STARTING FULL#
After the sql has been imported, when accessing the wiki I'm either prompted with a message on the index.php stating that user does not have sufficient rights which I granted full access and can access the database via mysql -uuser -ppassword just fine. I've been attempting to follow the instructions here: restoring mediawiki backup without success. This is located in the Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server80ToolsBinn directory.
#MAMP SQL SERVER NOT STARTING PASSWORD#
The only way around this that I've found, is by following the instructions here to recreate the root user: or staying logged in as root before importing via mysql and then changing the password to root.ĭoes anyone have anything that can help me get through this? I'm really looking for assistance with importing a SQL dump for an older version of MediaWiki.
MAMP will not compromise any existing Apache installation already running on your system.
#MAMP SQL SERVER NOT STARTING FREE#
MAMP comes free of charge, and is easily installed. I'm not sure if that is the cause or not. MAMP installs a local server environment in a matter of seconds on your Windows or macOS computer.
#MAMP SQL SERVER NOT STARTING PRO#
I'm not the most pro efficient at SQL (I'm actually very noobish to it), but I think that the SQL file I'm importing has its own root user/password combo that's conflicting with the current one. After setting up mediawiki using MAMP, when importing the files through phpadmin, my root user gets iced every time and I can no longer log in and/or connect to mysql. We were sent a SQL file with an image file to upload to the local site. I've been tasked with importing an SQL database to setup up with a local mediawiki website (v1.14).
